This is the first major version upgrade to the GoldMine Premium Edition line.

Now in it’s second week of release, the 9.0 upgrade seems to be pretty stable and, as of this posting, no major issues have been identified with core functionality. The combination of some nice price offerings and the long list of fixes and improvements that make GoldMine Premium Edition 9.0 a good upgrade for users of GoldMine versions 4/5/6/7.

Operating System Compatibility
Windows 7 is now supported, both in 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

Dashboards
Dashboards provide a real-time, graphical, and interactive view into key business processes. GoldMine Premium Edition includes eight standard dashboards and also provides a Dashboard Designer for administrators to create additional dashboards, representing data in GoldMine or in other databases. Please see the GoldMine documentation for details.

Outlook Integration
Outlook integration includes several major enhancements in this release.

• New GoldMine panes in Outlook show related contact information. Administrators can configure the display to select the fields and layout to be shown in Outlook.
• E-mails can be linked to contacts, opportunities, projects, and cases from Outlook.
• Automatic linking for messages sent and received in Outlook, with the ability to prompt the user to find or create a contact if there is no matching e-mail address in GoldMine.
• Centralized administration for Outlook synchronization enables administrators to set synchronization settings and schedules for GoldMine users.
• Support for recurring activities when synchronizing with Outlook
• Option to automatically link attachments without prompting the user. In Outlook, go to Setup GoldMine Plus > Options > Use GoldMine attachment handling settings. This option will apply the Existing Attachment Default Action that is established here in GoldMine: Tools > Options > E-mail > More Options > Advanced.
• One-Button Synchronization Profiles can be applied without using the GoldMine internal e-mail client. To update a profile when using Outlook for e-mail, save the profile attachment from the e-mail in Outlook, open GoldMine, go to Tools > Synchronize > Synchronization Settings, browse to the file, and click Update.
• Outlook can be used for composing messages when clicking the E-mail hyperlink in GoldMine. Go to Tools > Options > E-mail and click Use Outlook for linked e-mail addresses.
• Improved usability in Outlook when re-linking an e-mail message to a different contact
• A new navigation pane in Outlook displays clickable links to recently viewed items in GoldMine, to make it easier to switch between applications.
• An option to include the contact’s address in the subject that appears in Outlook after synchronizing calendar items. Go to Tools > Configure > Outlook Integration Settings > Sychronization > Set Up… > Next > Advanced and check Add contact’s address to subject.

Administration
GoldMine includes native support for Microsoft SQL Server Express instead of the Firebird database. Firebird is no longer a supported database in GoldMine Premium Edition. During the upgrade to GoldMine Premium Edition 9, a default Firebird database will automatically be rehosted to Microsoft SQL Server. After the upgrade, GoldMine will rehost any other Firebird database if a user attempts to open it.

GoldMine now supports unattended installation for undocked users and environments with multiple GoldMine configurations. Go to Tools > Configure > System Settings > Script for Unattended Installation and select the type of configuration to install, and fill in the fields shown. Then click Create to generate .ini and .bat files that are used, along with gmsetup.exe, to install GoldMine without requiring a user to click through the installation wizard. Please read the GoldMine Install Guide for more information about unattended installation.

New options for password policy are included. Administrators can set the following policies at Tools > Configure > System Settings > Password Policy:
• Minimum password length
• Block accounts after three invalid login attempts
• New password cannot repeat any previous password, up to a specified number of previous passwords

GoldMine now provides a master list of all field label names and database names, to facilitate data import and export. Go to Tools > Configure > Record Types and click All Fields in the left panel. A list of all contact database fields and labels will be shown, for view or export to Excel.

WHAT’S ENHANCED IN GOLDMINE PREMIUM EDITION 9.0

Search
The options shown in the “Search By” list in the Contact Search Center can be reduced to improve usability. Go to Tools > Options > Lookup > More Options and check the boxes corresponding to fields you want to use for searching in the Contact Search Center.

Last Name is now an option in the Search List drop-down in the Contact List, to simplify searching for a contact by last name.

The Search List selection in the Contact List is now retained between sessions, so your preferred method of searching is kept automatically.

When the SQL Query Editor is used in the Contact Search Center, GoldMine now shows a clear error message to the user if the SQL syntax is incorrect.

Administration
For improved auditing, archiving, and smartphone access to messages generated within GoldMine, there is a new option to force all e-mail sent to a user to go through the mail server. To enable or change this setting, go to Tools > Users’ Settings > Properties > Choose how to deliver e-mail messages to this user

GoldMine now automatically repairs corrupted e-mail records, rather than displaying a “Cal record for this e-mail is missing” message as in previous versions.

With the ClearTLogByDelFilter setting customers can control whether to delete TLog records when applying a deletion filter during synchronization. This setting is placed in the [GoldSync] section of the GoldSync.ini file.
• To delete TLog records (default): ClearTLogByDelFilter =1
• To retain TLog records: ClearTLogByDelFilter=0

Calendar
GoldMine now provides the option to add or remove users and contacts from an existing activity. To use this feature, edit an existing activity and select the Contacts tab or Users tab to make changes.

GoldMine now provides the ability to schedule recurring activities with no end date. When this option is used, GoldMine will add a number specific instance of activities corresponding to the recurring activity, and then continue to add more over time to keep calendars booked appropriately.

The Preview Pane in the Activity List now includes a hyperlink to navigate to the contact record related to the selected activity.

With the EditWhenDblClick setting customers can choose what happens when they double-click on a calendar item. This setting is placed in the [CalObj] section of the username.ini file.
• To open the activity (default): EditWhenDblClick=1
• To open the contact record: EditWhenDblClick=0

Customer Service
Column and Tab Selection in Case Management is now applied only to the logged-in user, not changed globally. Other customizations, as shown on the Labels and Options tabs, are now read-only for users without Master Rights.

Case Tasks now have a lookup list available to make task names more consistent and easier to enter.

Marketing Campaigns
Marketing campaigns now include the ability to add a contact group or filter to an existing campaign. Select a campaign, click Assign Contacts, then select Link All Group/Filter Contacts.

What’s going on is that every GoldMine version has a digital signature and the one used with GoldMine 8.0.x expired in early December, 2009. That means that the windows User Account Control (UAC) feature will not allow it to run.

UAC is a feature that is built into Windows Vista, Server 2008 and Windows 7. You know it as that annoying feature that produces a constant stream of messages along the lines of, “Hey, it looks like you are trying to double-click an icon. Did you know that icons could run terrible viruses? Please click OK to confirm you want to run the thing you double-clicked!” A lot of people have simply turned UAC off (including me!) but those who have not are now finding themselves unable to run GoldMine.

There are two possible solutions

1. Turn off UAC like the rest of us. Of course, if you haven’t done that by now, you probably have a very good reason (like you use Quickbooks, which requires it) or you enjoy the implied additional security features.
2. Patch to version 8.5.x of GoldMine (free to customers current on their Frontrange Maintenance) and enjoy the many fixes and new features introduced therein (including a new digital certificate.)

This is the sixth patch since the initial release of GoldMine Premium Edition (8.0) and the third one in the 8.5 line. It’s also very likely to be the final 8.x patch we’ll see before the release of version 9.0 in the spring of 2010.

The main goal of this patch was to clean up lingering issues primarily in the Opportunity/Project and E-mail areas of 8.5 There are some nice tweaks to the Universal Search area and general stability too.

WHAT’S ENHANCED IN GOLDMINE PREMIUM EDITION 8.5.2

The Opportunity Manager and Project Manager provide a filter that lets users select opportunities or projects by Status. To use this filter, click on the dropdown arrow next to the “Show:” label and select the corresponding Status. To view all opportunities or projects that are not completed, select “Active” in the dropdown menu. This is a new option in GoldMine Premium Edition 8.5.2..

This is the fifth patch since the initial release of GoldMine Premium Edition (8.0) and the second one in the 8.5 line. Let’s face it: the original 8.5.0 patch was a bit of a bust in that it fixed lots of things but unfortunately brought with it a couple of major issues surrounding e-mail.

Now in it’s third week of release, the 8.5.1 patch seems to be much more stable. It provides a nice list of fixes and improvements that make GoldMine Premium Edition 8.5 a compelling choice for users still living with GoldMine 4/5/6/7.

GoldMine now supports 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008.

GoldMine now supports the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003.

Universal Search provides a single search box from which you can find contacts, notes, activities, e-mail messages, documents, and other items in GoldMine. This new feature is located at Go To > Search > Universal Search.

GoldMine Integration Services for Microsoft Outlook (GISMO) is now included in the GoldMine installer, no longer requiring a separate installation.

Cross-field validation enables an F2 lookup list to change based on the value in another field. For example, you can enter a value for the Title field that is only valid for a specific Department. To enable this option, click the Setup button in the Field Lookup (F2) screen and select “Lookup list depends on another field”. Check the “Force valid input” box to enforce the validation.

A Preview Pane is available in the tabs within a contact record, providing a faster view into activities, e-mails, details, and linked documents.

Unattended installation enables GoldMine to be installed or upgraded without end-user intervention. To enable this option, check the box labeled “Create configuration file for unattended installation” when installing GoldMine on an end-user’s computer. Then place the gmsetup.exe, gm_is.ini, and gmsetup_si.bat files into the same directory on another end-user’s computer, and execute the gmsetup_si.bat file to install GoldMine.
In addition, future workstation upgrades can be setup to install automatically. After installing GoldMine on a server and creating the files listed above, go to Tools -> Configure -> System Settings -> Upgrade and enter the paths for the files. This automatic upgrade process will take effect in releases after GoldMine Premium Edition 8.5.0.
As a result of the changes described above, the Minimal Setup and option was removed from the GoldMine installer and the Install Locally option was removed from the License Manager.

The E-mail Center and Opportunity/Project Manager user interfaces have been redesigned for better usability.

Secure SSL connections now are supported in the E-mail Center. To configure an SSL connection, go to Tools > Options > E-mail.

The IMAP protocol now is supported in the E-mail Center, providing more security and better interoperability with other e-mail clients. To configure an IMAP e-mail account, go to Tools > Options > E-mail.

A new System Settings screen is available for administrators to establish global system settings for search performance tuning and other items.

Unicode database support enables multiple languages to be stored within a single GoldMine database. This option is available when installing, upgrading, or rehosting GoldMine. Note: selecting this option will significantly increase the size of the database.

New user settings are available for administrators to permit a user to Insert notes, Edit/delete own notes, and Edit/delete others’ notes. These permissions can be set by clicking on Tools > Users’ Settings > Properties > Access.

A new user setting is available to grant permission for end users to customize their toolbars. To prevent end users from customizing their toolbars, go to Tools > Users’ Settings > Properties > Access and uncheck “Customize toolbar”.

The GoldMine Lookup Wizard now enables users to look up contacts matching multiple fields within Details. To use this feature, click on Tools > Filters and Groups > SQL Query > Build… to launch the wizard, and then select “Contact Information” and “Contacts containing the following Details tab information”.

A new Pending RSVP folder is available in the Activity List, displaying the pending activities for which the user has requested notification via RSVP.

Additional configuration options are available in the Service Center. Category, Offering, and Origin now are optional columns to be displayed in the case list view. Case field labels also can be modified by users with master rights.

A single case can be associated with multiple contacts, using the new Contacts tab displayed in the case view. With this feature, activities and e-mail messages associated with multiple contacts also can be linked to the same case.

When a case is reassigned, escalated, abandoned, or resolved, there now is a History entry that indicates what occurred. This history is viewable from the case or from the primary contact for the case.

GoldMine includes new tools for managing relationships between records in your database. To set up relationships between records that already are in your database, use the new relationship tree builder at Tools > Data Management > Create Default Relationship Trees. To add relationships as new records are created, check the “Relate To” box when adding a new record. The section name used when creating a new record can also be set by record type (Tools > Configure > Record Types, select a record type, click Edit, and enter a Relationship Tree Section Name).

The updated column chooser in the Contact Search Center now includes the ability to display the contact’s e-mail address and web site as columns in the Search Center and Contact List views.

Users now can run a single search for primary and additional contacts within the Contact Search Center. To use this option, select Search by: Contact (primary or additional).

Individual activities can be printed or copied to other applications. To print or copy an activity, right-click on the activity and select Output To.

The Field Properties screen has been redesigned to simplify the process of changing global field labels. To access the previous settings, including the ability to define a local label specific to a contact set, click the More Options button on the Profile tab of Field Properties.

The user interface for scheduling an activity with multiple contacts has been redesigned to be easier to use and more powerful. To add multiple contacts to an activity, click on the search icon next to the contact field on the Activity Detail tab. By default, the activity will be set at the same time for all contacts. To make the activities occur in a series, select the Series tab and choose “Schedule a series of activities with different times for different contacts”.
Activities now can be scheduled based on a maximum number of activities per day, or based on fixed activity duration. In addition, a “wrap up time after each activity” can be used to provide a delay between the completion of one activity and the beginning of the next activity.

WHAT’S ENHANCED IN GOLDMINE PREMIUM EDITION 8.5.0

Keyboard navigation has been enhanced to provide better access to core product features without using the mouse.

Synchronization and database rehosting performance has been enhanced, especially when using the Firebird database.

The 2 GB size limit has been removed for synchronization transfer sets and installation files for one-button synchronization.

Concurrent GoldSync connections are queued to improve reliability. As users connect to a GoldSync server, they automatically are placed in a queue, up to the number of users established in the Number of Connections screen within GoldSync configuration. If simultaneous processing of concurrent connections is required instead of queuing, please contact your Solutions Partner or FrontRange Support Services for recommendations and instructions.

E-mail messages sent when viewing a case are automatically linked to the case. While viewing a case in the service center, click on Actions > Send E-mail Message in the top menu bar.

The Linked Document Mover has been enhanced with the ability to restrict the locations from which documents will be moved. This feature is available at Tools > Data Management > Move Linked Docs and Attachments.

The Details tab now provides 12 customizable fields for each type of Detail. Previous versions of GoldMine provided 8 customizable fields for Details.

The import and export wizards now have simplified support for comma-separated (CSV) files. To import a CSV file, click on File > Import and Export > Import Contact Records.

Automated Processes can create cases, using the Create Case action in Event Properties. To create or edit a process, click on Tools > Automated Processes > Manage Processes.

For consistent terminology, the Tracks tab has been renamed to Processes.

The sort order of records displayed in the Contact List and Contact Search Center can be synchronized to allow users to scroll through records in the same order as they are displayed in the Contact Search Center. To enable this option, right-click on the results in the Contact Search Center and select “Set Record Scroll Order”.

The Contact Search Center supports the percent symbol (%) as a ‘wildcard’ for matching partial names of contacts or companies.

Macros can be added to custom toolbars. To use macros, first add the macro buttons (Record, Edit, Stop, and Pause) to the standard toolbar by clicking on the down-arrow button at the right end of the toolbar, and clicking on each button. Click the Edit button to view existing macros and drag-and-drop them to a custom toolbar.

Notes are now stored in a dedicated NOTES table for better reporting, auditing, and data synchronization. Previous versions of GoldMine combined all notes for a contact in a single field.
Because of this new structure for Notes, GoldMine does not support Global Replace on notes or filters based on notes. However, Universal Search provides similar functionality, as it enables the user to search within notes and then use the list of matching contacts as an active filter. To do this, check the Advanced box in Universal Search and select Notes as the only item within “Find these items”. Enter the search term and click Go. Check the box in the Tag column in the first row of the search results. Scroll to the bottom of the search results and shift-click the Tag column in the last row. This will activate a contact list of all the contacts with notes that include the search term.

A cancel button has been added to the toolbar that appears when editing notes for a contact record. To cancel the entry of a note, click the red X that appears in the Notes tab.

The Tasks folder of the Activity List now shows the related opportunity, project or case and enables the user to navigate directly to it, by clicking on the link shown in the Regarding column.

The Fax field in the Additional Contact record can be relabeled for use as a Mobile number or for storing other data. To change the label of this field, include the following entry in the [GoldMine] section of the gm.ini configuration file: AddContactFaxLabel=[yourlabel]

Users can now cut, copy, and paste field data with a right-click on the field. In previous versions of GoldMine, right-clicking on a selected field would display the lookup list for the field. To display the lookup list, press F2 or the Application Key (on most keyboards, this is a button with a picture of a drop-down menu). In addition, the auto-complete feature is activated when a user begins typing data into a field, as an alternative to opening the lookup list window.

The E-mail Center now supports integrated Windows authentication using NTLM. With this feature, e-mail access can be set up without entering or updating the password in GoldMine. To configure this option, go to Tools > Options > E-Mail.

E-mail Center performance can be configured with the following settings:

1. (New) When messages are deleted in the E-mail Center, they are not immediately deleted from the server until the connection is closed. This behavior provides the fastest performance but can cause deleted messages to reappear as duplicates in some scenarios. If this problem appears, the following [UserName].INI setting can be used:

[Internet]
PopImmediateDelete=1 (closes server connection after each message is deleted)

The default value for this setting is 0, which keeps the connection open after deleting a message.

2. (New) GoldMine automatically sends periodic messages (“no-ops”) to the e-mail server to keep the connection open for fast response time. By default these messages occur every 10 seconds. Some e-mail servers require more frequent messages to maintain the connection. To change the frequency of these messages, use the following [UserName].INI setting:

[Internet]
PopNoopTimer=nnnn (where nnnn is the number of seconds between messages)

3. GoldMine automatically disconnects from the e-mail server if it has no related activity for 10 minutes, by default. This is useful, for example, when using both the Online and Auto-retrieve options with an e-mail server that permits only one connection. To change the time delay before automatically disconnecting, use the following [UserName].INI setting:

PopIdle= nnnn (where nnnn is the number of minutes until disconnect)

Several months ago we announced that GMCE 7.5.1 Hotfix 1 (build 81009) was being made available in a controlled release. Since then, a large number of customers have deployed it successfully, and we are now formally making it generally available to make sure that future GMCE deployments will use this build, rather than the original 7.5.1.80827 build.

The build is already on the partner NFR site. We expect it to be on Net Update and CD this week.

If you’ve ever fumbled around trying to find that one e-mail in from that one person at one of your company’s best clients, you know that the history tab can sometimes be a big haystack to search. Sure, you can filter the activity column to show only e-mail’s in, but that still doesn’t whittle it down enough to find that one from Joe a few weeks ago. If only there was a contact name column in the history tab so you could filter or sort by it…

Your wish is GoldMine Premium Edition’s command!

It’s a simple matter of setting the option to show that contact column. To do so, go to Tools|Options and then to the Record tab and check the option, Show contact name on activity tabs (see below).

The 7.5 patch has been a long time coming. It was originally released in January of ‘08 after much testing. Apparently, not enough testing was done as it was pulled from release within about a week with assurances that it would be back soon.

Fast-forward seven months later and soon has finally come. GoldMine 7.50.80618 has been released. It brings with it a lot of fixes and enhancements that have long been sought after by GoldMine users. Many of these enhancements are not even available in GoldMine 8 Premium Edition. This is not a surprise, however, as many late-in-life patches to prior versions of GoldMine brought lots of stability as well as some fledgling features that hadn’t quite made it into the newer versions of the product. One has only to look back at GoldMine 3.2, 5.7 and 6.7 to see similar patterns.

If you’re still on GoldMine 6 or GoldMine 7 Corporate Edition and are current on your maintenance with Frontrange, you can have GoldMine 7.5 for free. CD’s can be ordered from Frontrange with the update. If you are a new customer, you can’t have GoldMine 7.5 as new customers receive GoldMine 8 Premium Edition.

There are a lot of highlights in the release notes, but what really stands out, to me, are the many improvements to the e-mail capabilities. SSL, IMAP, TLS, NTLM, CRAM-MD5 — all of these acronyms represent things the old GoldMine e-mail client was incapable of. No more.

I wonder if these things will make it into 8.0.3 or if we’ll have wait for 8.1 to enjoy them? Regardless of when they make it, stability trumps an early release date any time. Kudos to the GoldMine team for sticking to it and getting us a good 7.5 release. Now, who wants to install it first?

Without more rambling from me, I bring you, the 7.5 release notes:

Support for Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 enables integration with the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Also, the Word and Excel links now are optional components of the main GoldMine installation, rather than being installed separately.

Support for Windows Vista as an end-user operating system.

Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Support for Windows Server 2003 R2, Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Secure SSL connections now are supported in the E-mail Center. To configure an SSL connection, go to Edit > Preferences > E-mail.

The IMAP protocol now is supported in the E-mail Center, providing more security and better interoperability with other e-mail clients. To configure an IMAP e-mail account, go to Edit > Preferences > E-mail.

The E-mail Center now supports integrated Windows authentication using NTLM. With this feature, e-mail access can be set up without entering or updating the password in GoldMine. To configure this option, go to Edit > Preferences > E-Mail.

E-mail Center performance can be configured with the following settings:

1. (New) When messages are deleted in the E-mail Center, they are not immediately deleted from the server until the connection is closed. This behavior provides the fastest performance but can cause deleted messages to reappear as duplicates in some scenarios. If this problem appears, the following UserName.INI setting can be used:

[Internet]
PopImmediateDelete=1 (closes server connection after each message is deleted)

The default value for this setting is 0, which keeps the connection open after deleting a message.

2. (New) GoldMine automatically sends periodic messages (“no-ops”) to the e-mail server to keep the connection open for fast response time. By default these messages occur every 10 seconds. Some e-mail servers require more frequent messages to maintain the connection. To change the frequency of these messages, use the following UserName.INI setting:

[Internet]
PopNoopTimer=nnnn (where nnnn is the number of seconds between messages)

3. GoldMine automatically disconnects from the e-mail server if it has no related activity for 10 minutes, by default. This is useful, for example, when using both the Online and Auto-retrieve options with an e-mail server that permits only one connection. To change the time delay before automatically disconnecting, use the following UserName.INI setting:

[Internet]
PopIdle= nnnn (where nnnn is the number of minutes until disconnect)

Synchronization and database rehosting performance has been enhanced, especially when using the Firebird database.

The 2 GB size limit has been removed for synchronization transfer sets and installation files for one-button synchronization.

Concurrent GoldSync connections are queued to improve reliability. As users connect to a GoldSync server, they automatically are placed in a queue, up to the number of users established in the Number of Connections screen within GoldSync configuration. If simultaneous processing of concurrent connections is required instead of queuing, please contact your Solutions Partner or FrontRange Support Services for recommendations and instructions.

This is the second patch since the initial release of GoldMine Premium Edition (8.0). It brings with it a long list of fixes and improvements that make GoldMine Premium Edition a compelling choice for 6.x users facing the impending non-supported status of their product by Frontrange on April 30th.

When you double-click a field to lookup by contact name, for instance, GoldMine does a search of the database where contact begins with nothing immediately upon the search center opening. For whatever reason, this returns the entire database. Have you got more than a few thousand contacts in there? Better go grab another cup of coffee — unless you can beat GoldMine to the punch and start typing a name before it ‘aligns’ the lookup window with your search term.

How do you solve this? Wait for the forthcoming 8.0.2 patch from FrontRange and cross your fingers? No. You can correct this behavior with a little tuning of your search center’s lookup alignment delay. The setting can be found here: Tools|Options|Lookup|Lookup alignment delay.

I have mine set to 7 tenths of a second and I can usually get my hand from the mouse to the keyboard and type part of a name before that initial search hits — but I play a lot of video games. Unless you also have the reflexes of a ninja-sniper, you might want to try 9 or 10 — maybe higher!

Finding a good balance between minimizing the immediate blank search problem but still retaining that great drill-down responsiveness as you type the search term is somewhat of an art. The setting’s optimal number can be different for everyone.

It’s a handy feature, but it’s been known to cause a bit of a performance hit when the Recently Viewed lists get long. There’s no way to tame this feature from within the GoldMine interface, but if you’ve got the MSSQL Management Studio (or the Express version of the same tool) you have all you need to get it done.

Of course, all due caution should be observed before undertaking such steps as you could possibly corrupt your database or confuse your cat with this stuff. Seriously, backup the database first (or ask whoever’s in charge of such things to do so)

1. Fire up Management Studio and expand down to the GoldMine database level.

2. Hit the ‘New Query’ button on the toolbar.

3. Paste the following query (with your upper-cased GoldMine username in there instead) into the window on the right.

update history set cnt=10 where userid='DOUG'

4. Hit the ‘Execute’ button.

That’s it! Head back to GoldMine and look up a contact not already on your recently viewed items list and go to it. Stay there for a few seconds and you should see your list decrease down to only ten contacts. The same behavior will occur as you visit other areas of GoldMine and refresh the Recently Viewed lists there.

Worth mentioning is that you could choose any number. I chose ten in my example to make it obvious. In practice, I prefer to keep my Recently Viewed lists at twenty-five items.

So the query for that would be:

update history set cnt=25 where userid='DOUG'

Heck, you might even want to make this change globally for all of your users at the same time. To do so, use this query:

update history set cnt=25
