The installers for GoldMine 6.5, 6.6, 6.7 and 7.0 prevent the installation of multiple GoldMine installations on one machine. This is due to the way windows and the MSI (MicroSoft Installer) handles things. Windows records where the original setup is stored and where the resulting product is installed so that if you ever run the same setup, you have the options to reinstall, repair, etc. the existing program (in our case, GoldMine.) As a result, if you run the GoldMine setup again, you don’t get the opportunity to install another GoldMine!
FrontRange have released stand-alone fixes for this in the past in the form of ‘gimli.exe’ programs that were designed to eliminate the stored setup files and the record of where they were stored so you could then run the same GoldMine setup and specify a different folder without messing up your existing GoldMine. This can be quite useful for setting up a test GoldMine or in various other situations. Of course, you’ll want to review your license agreement and always adhere to it.
