Microsoft is pushing IE7 (Internet Explorer 7) out via automatic updates on NOVEMBER 1st, 2006. Is your GoldMine version compatible?
The answer is NO if you’re using version 6.70.50123 (or earlier). Some problems include GM+Views not working, tiny font sizes in e-mail reading/writing windows, images not being displayed in e-mail, activity notes fields not working properly, the <H> button not appearing on GM+View and e-mail template edit modes, etc.
Obviously, some of these are pretty serious issues and could definitely put a damper on your GoldMine use. For this reason, I am advising my customers against updating to IE7 until such time as the final patch comes out for version 6.7. If you are using an even older version of GoldMine (like 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 5.7, 6.0, 6.5 or 6.6) it just might be time to finally upgrade to 6.7 when this patch hits the streets as there is not going to be an IE7 compatibility patch for any of the older versions of GoldMine.
As one might expect, GoldMine 7.0 works fine with IE7. Without a standard edition of 7.0, however, this leaves a lot of people out in the cold, for the moment. Here’s wishing the QA department fair winds and following seas in their testing of the forthcoming patches for both the 7.0 and 6.7 versions of GoldMine!
Microsoft has provided instructions, here, on how to prevent Internet Explorer 7 from being automatically installed on your machine.
Worth noting is the fact that IE7 is not available for Windows 2000 users and therefore is not a problem for the servers and workstations out there who continue to use what I consider the best desktop OS to come from Microsoft thus far.
