GMSE 6.7 was placed in a Windows 7 Professiona 32-bit. It worked fairly well but had problems merging templates with Word 2003. We moved GM and Word to the XP Mode and everything seems to be working properly except Word and other programs in the XP Mode do not see the printer.

Any suggestions on how to connect a printer to the XP Mode?

I have to agree with Bob in this case, you are creating your own problem by using a Distribution List. Do your eBlast to a Filter or a Group.

In the meantime there are a few things that you can do to aid in this process. Make certain that you are on the latest build of GoldMine., 9.0.2.36.
And that you do not have Sync Contact selected.

That is the purpose of the Distribution List and that is the way it is supposed to work. You are using the wrong method to send emails to more than one recipient. You need to explore the use of email templates and sending emails to a group of people or sending emails to specified email merge codes. These methods will send individual emails to each person and each person will not know who else received the same email. Go into GoldMine's Help and you will find a wealth of information.

There is not really a way to deal with this in GoldMine. The only possible thing to do would be to make sure the mail server is as fast as possible. You might consider off-loading the outgoing mail to a third party mail server like SMTP.COM or similar.

Also worth noting is that I currently have a utility in BETA testing that I wrote to address this need as well as other needs surrounding mass-e-mailing with GoldMine. For now, it's only available to my own customers, but I hope to have the features fleshed out, the bugs hunted down and the documentation completed sometime in Feb.

A few times a year we send mass email blasts to ~10,000 contacts. It is painful and takes 2-3 days because we break it up in to three groups.

Each email takes about 5-10 seconds. It establishes a connection with the Exchange server, waits for a response, and then goes on to the next one.

Should it take that long?

Is there a way to speed it up?

I am running Godmine 6.50 from March of 2004. I know how to create distribution lists, but I cannot figure out what to do to keep everyones e-mail address from being visible to everyone in the list when I send out a correspondence. Can any help?

Back to the original question. Outlook 2010 is not supported on any version of GoldMine other that 9.0.2.36, and the 64bit version is not supported by anyone including Microsoft.

Product Name : DBX for GoldMine
What can it do:
1. Import contact records to GoldMine, including calendar, history, details
2. Build contact groups
3. Create tlog entries for records updated without using the Goldmine API
4. Import data sources are csv, tab delimited files and also SQL databases.

These are the initial features that will be available in the product. The dev team is expected to release new builds with new features and fixes every 2 weeks.

What is unique about it:
All data operations, such as retrieving data from Goldmine, manipulating the data prior to importing to GoldMine and even prior to exporting data is done in SQL queries (defined by users) without impacting the production Goldmine database.

I agree with both Ronan and Doug concerning the 32 & 64 bit versions of Outlook. Several of my clients have had serious GM-Outlook link problems with the 64-bit version of Outlook 2010.

Most developers, and indeed even Microsoft themselves, recommend that you install the 32 bit version of Office 2010, unless you have a very pressing requirement to run the 64 bit edition (the need to edit Excel docs over 2GB in size for example). For the vast majority of users the 32 bit version will be perfectly sufficient and they will see no difference between it and the 64 bit edition.

Outlook 2010's 64 bit version has problems that cause add-in developers a lot of trouble -- not just Frontrange. You would do well to install the 32 bit version of office 2010 and move on, honestly.

Does anyone knows if FrontRange is going to develop the Outlook Link to work with the 64-bit version of Outlook 2010. That is what I am currently running (as of today) and I am unable to get the link working. I'd hate to have to install the 32-bit version of the software to get this going... I do rely on linking in Outlook.
