I'm trying to install GM 7.51 on a laptop (remote install) where SQL2008 r2 express is installed and it tells me that I need SQL 2005.

Anyone have any ideas how I can bypass that or any other suggestions....(other than upgrading to PE as that is not an option)

I will also say that I have 3 other machines that are working with the above.

**as a side note, the reason we need 2008 is for the space for our 9GB mailbox.

Thanks!

Try setting your Database Compatibility back to SQL Server 2005. No guarantees, but that may resolve your issue.

I agree with DJ. Go into SQL Server Management Studio, highlight that database and go to its properties, and change the compatibility level to SQL 2005. I have been able to do this with GM 6.7 where I had to change the compatibility level to SQL 2000.

When I go into the compatiblily tab....the only options are Windows 95, Windows NT, 2000, etc.

I don't get options for SQL at all. I went to Properties of SQL Mgmt Studio 2008 R2.....Am I looking in the wrong place? Not sure why I get these options. any thoughts?

Maybe try stick an instance of SQL 2005 express on the machine and then take it off again when you are done? Dont know if that will help (Ive not come across that issue when installing 7.5 onto SQL 2008) but if it is anything like trying to install 6.7 onto anything above SQL 2000 then it should work as all it is checking is that the version it wants to find is actually on the machine. Once it finds it you can select to install to whichever instance you like, as I dont think GoldMine is able to check what version you are actually installing to at that stage.

Highlight the Database when in the a SQL Management Tools. Right-click and select Properties, I believe.

If its the problem that I am thinking of then it is doing the check on the actual version of SQL installed, and will not get as far as to check database compatibility mode.

Worth a try though.

It appears that he did not check "compatibility mode" in the proper way. As DJ suggested, go to SQL Server Management Studio, highling the database, right mouse button, click on "Properties", then click of "Options". In my SQL 2008, I see 3 options: SQL 2000 (80), 2005 (90), and 2008 (100).

Thank you all very much!

Changing compatibility did not fix my issue, but I was able to finish my installation by installing SQL 2005 MGMT studio.

couldn't have done it without you!!! You have no idea how much I appreciate your help !!!
