Goldmine head Paul Petersen announced in a webinar on the new release that Front Range Connect will be going away, to be replaced by a new Goldmine only community. No old threads will be carried over, all new membership, etc. Invites will go out to Goldmine customers current on maintenance after the release date of Goldmine 2015.2 on November 19.

So a quick heads up, if there is something at Front Range Connect you want, grab it before that site goes away for good very soon.

I've been working with a couple of website scraper tools to try to archive that stuff. Remember, the connect site also includes all the old newsgroup content as well (going back to the 90's)

Worth saving, to me...

If anyone has experience with WebHarvest, I could use a bit of help to get over the hump of getting the thing logged into the connect site's cookie and such...

I think it is valuable too, Doug. Thanks for trying to save it as a resource for us!

Any luck with Webharvest yet? I thought about giving it a shot, but balked when I saw I'd need to install Java. Smile

no. I've been busy with other things, but this is still high on my list to get accomplished. I just can't get it past the login page, unfortunately. They apparently use some pretty strange variables and such on those pages.

I'll attack it again soon, but if anyone else has any skill with this sort of thing, I'd welcome the expertise -- I'm just kind of feeling my way with Java...

Any luck with this? They have started reminding people at Front Range Connect not to start new conversations and that all content will be unavailable after year end.

nope. The whole password thing has blocked me at every turn. I've tried a few different tools... HTTrack and WebHarvest have been the most promising, but neither has been successful in appropriately passing login info... I guess I just can't figure it out (and, frankly, time has also been an issue.)

I'd really like to be able to save that stuff without having to spend a holiday evening trawling through the 10's-of-thousands of threads for the goodies tucked away there...

If anyone's familiar with webcrawler/scraper tools and is willing to share their expertise here, I'm more than willing to use my 70MB bandwidth and storage to pull the info down. What we do with it after that will be something to figure out later...
