I recently had a user bring to my attention that some of his emails are showing up with strange characters in them. See below:

Below is what we’re looking for:

The characters always seem to show up only in the response from the user's customer. We are using Goldmine 6.7 by the way.

Thanks in advance for any help.

That was a problem with how GoldMine 6.7 handled (quotes and some entire emails) from certain e-mail clients (yahoo, for instance.)

There's not much you can do about it -- other than updating to a current version of GoldMine.

I have the same issue in 2014.2 but solved it in 6.7BCM
The key issue is if you install BCM in the US codeset then it does not accept that Germans, Frenchmen, Danes , Swedes have the bad habbit of using letters of the alphabet not used in English.

If BCM is installed using UK or presumably German or French it is not an issue.

I don't know how to fix it in the 2014.2 (unicode) where emails from the same person, same email account... sent 20 minutes apart in one mail displays as Jørgen and in the other Jørgen.
