I need to do a presentation that includes favorite Goldmine productivity tips. I looked through the ones here, but need a few more basic ones.

Things like putting 3W in the date box when scheduling an activity to have Goldmine calculate a date 3 weeks out.

Help would be appreciated!

The one you listed is one of my favorites. These are not exactly the same type but may help:

Since GM is designed to help follow up and keep in touch with clients, prospects, friends, and associates; entering "followup=1" in the Goldmine section of the user's ini file will help remind him/her to schedule follow-up activities when completing an activity.

Showing people a simple SQL Query then outputting the results to an Excel spreadsheet is impressive if they have not seen it before.

If sales are involved, have them use Forecasting. Then periodically, a person (or manager) can sit down, and review the list of forecasts and ask the question: "What do I need to do next to move this sale foreward?"

If they are doing email or snail-mail broadcasts, the use of merge codes can be an impressive time saver.

If I think of any more, I will add them to the list. Hope this helps.

Another tip:

Prioritizing your Calls. My favorite is to establish a series of codes for your priorities (A, B, C or P (Prospecting), S (Service), etc.), then in the Time slot, place the priority letter instead of time. This will change the field to read "priority" and all calls will be placed on the View Activity lists sorted by priorities. These calls will show up on the daily calendar on the right hand side ("to-do's"). Those calls that you do not get to will automatically roll over to the next day. (This was written for GM 6.7 so needs to be completely tested for Premium.

Another tip that some clients have found exciting. If Premium, you have the list of recently viewed contacts on the left hand side. Under Options/System, you can control how many contacts are listed there. (Don't make the list too long (over 20 or 25) because it slows the system down a little.

On all versions of GM, you can hold down the Shift Key and Page Down through the last five contacts visited.

That is a cool tip, Bob!

Here are a couple of mine. And DJ, you can feel free to use any of these in your newsletter.

In the Contact Search Center, click the columns button to add more info to your view. Choose the column selection tab and double click the field you want added.

There is an easy way to filter history. Want to see just emails you sent out? Go to the activity header and right click and choose email out. This activates a filter and you need to click the small x in the bottom of the window to clear it.

right click in any list view and turn on the 'summary' option to get a count of the currently displayed items at the bottom-left.

Wow, that works in a lot of different places. I knew you could do that in the contact search center, but not in other tabs. Thanks, Doug!
