I've been doing some test runs with my import (whew! its almost done!). What I've noticed is that it bypasses the main contact record - but then the detail records it adds an additional identical record to. So, for example, we have high schools as a detail record - if I import once its all good, if I import a second or third time it doesn't duplicate the whole record but does add the detail record multiple times so I have multiple instances of the same high school. Theoretically this shouldn't be too big of a problem (I'm only doing one import) but I'd like to clear it up before going any further. Any ideas on how to prevent this from occurring?
Thanks,
Dave. |

I'm not following everything about what you are saying, so I don't know whether removing the PlugIn from one or more of your Imports might be the answer. Of course, if all else fails, you can just run a Dedupe of a GoldMine table as the final item in your Q-file. Use the query to home in on the specific Detail, and be sure you like what GoldBox has given you for the matching expression. You can change it, if need be (I think what GoldBox figures on Details is usually good, though). |

Found this in the GB docs:
"Even though you can 'conditionalize' each plug-in field set when Updating a Main Contact - please note that the plugged-in Tab records are ALWAYS added as New. There is no dupe checking to see if that Tab record already exists, or Update capability of that Tab record. For this functionality, choose the dedicated Tab Import/Update operations."
Essentially, it appears there is no way to filter out inserting details - they are always inserted.

If the problem is duped Details, see my solution #2 above. |
