Old Report, New SQL Server

Hey guys,

I have a problem. I built a very detailed report that took me ages to figure out. But we recently transferred our SQL Server to new Server machine and named it something else (the old server is now our fileserver, but we kept the same name) and now I cannot get the report to update all of the tables and fields to look from the new location. I have already logged on to the new table and successfully connected, but the existing fields and calculations are based off of the old fields and tables from the old location.

Is there a way to update all of the tables and fields to the new location without having to completely rebuild the entire report?

Thanks.

is this a crystal report? If so, which version? In the report designer, there's a spot to change connections and have it update across the entire report. I've found it to be fairly painless, most of the time..

Yes, this is a Crystal Report v.9. I looked (maybe not close enough) but couldn't find the feature you referred to.

Thanks.

Well, I looked all over for the "Report Designer" and couldn't find it. The only thing I have found was the "Design" tab, which is not a wizard or anything......just the screen view.

Could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Figured it out.

Under "Database -> Set Datasource Location", there is an option where you can update the current data location to a new location. Really easy and I should have caught it a long time ago.

exactly! Sorry couldn't get back to you but I've been stuck on my laptop for days and since a recent reformat, I haven't got Crystal installed on it!

Go to the file menu and under Database select "Verify Database" providing that the database is still on the same server if not go into ODBC Administrator and change (Configure) the location to the new server first. It will give you a message that the database has changed click on "Yes" to update. This will Add/Delete, depending on what changes happened to the database, all fields that have changed, added or deleted. If there are fields on your report that are no longer in you database you will need to re-point them to the new fields.
