Windows 7 Ult- Goldmine Prem 8.5.112 latest - Gbox prof.
I restarted to use after long time Gbox7 again and imported from dBase4 database .
I can map in Gbox7 2011A, most basic fields company, contact, address fields but when mapping udeffields , I get box message:
Protected fields, not available - the template field is protected.
Trying to update/import some 1000+ addresses.
I got the addresses from Act2011sql,.other odbc,Excel..,,MsAccess2010, to make a Dbase file.In MsAccess I can see all fields,also via BR7 .
How to correct this "protected" fields, in Dbase/MsAcces/Excel somewhere ??
Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry, but I really didn't follow you. For example, you start out saying you are using "Gbox prof." I take that to mean "GoldBox Professional". But your version of GoldMine requires GoldBox 7, and there is no Professional version of GX7. I know that might sound like I'm nit picking, but you MUST nit pick when you trouble-shoot software these days.
My point is that I suspect that you are trying to use GX7 (correct) but that you don't have GX7 correcty installed. I'm not familiar with the specific problem you are having, and that indicates it's not a common problem. Installing GoldBox 7 is much more difficult than installing GXSQL, say, for a number of reasons. Test whether GoldBox can do the other routine things GoldBox can normally do, like do Exports and run Select queries. If not, I'd definitely say you have an installation problem. If so, then make sure you meet all the tests and conditions discussed on these pages:

If you pass all those tests, then I suspect that you need to contact Dave Petonic, who writes GoldBox. |
