As much as I think I already know the answer to this question.....

Is there anyway to UN-Archive the email/History Archive??? I'm pretty sure I unchecked the dry run button at some point and now have no history.

any suggestions would be GREAT!!!!

Sorry Goldbox5, GM 6.7.70226

Actually, there is a way. And a second way if you don't care about sync.

The Archiver preserves the records, History and Mailbox, in the archives, in their original form. So, you can use the Mirror Update to add the records back to their original tables. But that process is SLOW, so be prepared for that. Be sure to check the "If GM table: SYNC?" box, and also the "NO new Recid?" box.

You could also use ANY dBase table import for the Mailbox table (no sync), and for History (but don't try to use the History import; that won't work). You could even use exports, but be VERY careful if you do that.

Of course, be sure to backup before you do anything with GoldBox, ever!

Thanks for your help Bob, The Mirror/Update didn't work, but I found the gxhahist.dbf file and tried to import it.....but it only updated maybe 600 of 50K items.

Any idea why when I match on Accountno it's not putting the history item back? I double checked to be sure that the Accountno was the same and it is. It examines it, finds the accountno then when it comes to Phase3 it just randomly imports them. I tried to do it with just one company and it did the same thing only outo f the 47 entries, it updated 1.

Anything obvious that I'm doing wrong???

Remember that the Accountno is only a unique record identifyer for the Contact1 and Contact2 tables; for all other GoldMine tables, it's merely a field that can be used for a link to those tables. For all the other GoldMine tables, you have to use the Recid for uniqueness (and uniqueness is what matching is all about).

That's why I directed you to the Mirror Update; you can use the Recid match, and not worry about the Recid changing (provided you use those settings I told you about). I didn't explain why I directed you away from the Import because I didn't want to make things more complicated. But basically, when you use GoldBox (or any import) to add a record to a table (even if the record originally came from that table), the added record gets a new Recid. You do NOT want that to happen when you are doing what you need to do now, because of the linkages that exist between the History record and the Mailbox record. You're going to have to trust me on this, because I don't have time to cover the linkages here. But you MUST keep the same Recid when you add these records back.

So, please go back to my original instructions, using the Recid match. I should have specified that the first time...and I should not have told you that you could use the Import for any of this; I was daydreaming there, I think...

I did try the Mirror/Update adn that came back with only 150 updates out of 56K examined. Even if I add a filter in there with a number I KNOW has a match I still can't get it to get back into GM.

so maybe my settings are off.

here's what I'm using

source: Gxhahist.dbf
source match: igxhahist\recid

Match = RECID
table= conthist
mirror Alias = conthist

adn Yes I checked the GM table adn no new REcid

There is nothing checked either in the Mark fields to Bypass

I guess the thing that is confusing me is that there is nothing in the conthist.dbf so how is it going to match to that??? (that is when i turned to the import/update)

I do appreciate your help!! More than you know!!!!

You are telling me that your History table is completely empty, and that's not something I'd expect...ever. Are you telling me that you archived every single History record that existed? Also, how many records are in the Source table?

OK, now I want you to confirm that you did not make a backup before you ran the procedure to begin with...correct? (Don't EVER do that again!)

If that's so, then you may be much luckier than you deserve to be Laughing

I think your current Gxhahist.dbf table is probably exactly the same data as your Conthist.dbf should be. So....just make copies of Gxhahist.dbf and GXhashist.dbt, and rename the copies Conthist.dbf and Conthist.dbt, and put them in your database folder, replacing the empty tables there. Problem is, you'll need to generate the Index for Conthist.dbf, and I'm not sure if GoldMine will do that (it should, but I'm not sure). Do you know how to rebuild individual GM tables?

I'm never EVER EVER going to do anything without backing up GM!!! I thought i had the regular backup but it crashed that night (of course)

If you mean rebuild GM tables by maintain database, then yes, if you mean rebuild another way, then maybe not.
