Hi,

We are running GM 6.7 SQL on a Windows Server 2008 with a SQL 2008 on it. We have no problems connecting Goldmine using Windows XP 32 bit machines, we add ODBC source, install SQL Client tools and it works out of the box. However, we just got new Win 7 64Bit Machines and we can't access GM.

Here's what we did so far:

1. Installed SQL Tools - sdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/ff658533.aspx
2. I copied ntwdblib.dll into system32/ and SYSWOW64/, because i was getting an error requesting this file

and now we are stuck at the error below

We are able to establish connection to MSSQL server via ODBC connection:

If i run bdeadmin - I enter the password for the sql server, but it does not allow me to access it:

I have not tried updating the BDE, currently it's 5.11 should we upgrade to 5.2?

Thanks!

While this may not solve your problem, I would make sure that you have killed the UAC. Here are some instructions that I have for that:
Quote:

1. Launch MSCONFIG by from the Run menu.
2. Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find "Disable UAC" . Click on that line.
3. Press the Launch button.
4. A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window.
5. Close MSCONFIG. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.

Send me an email and I could send you a document on this subject that would provide more details.

Thanks - I disabled UAC and also installed BDE 5.2, but still the same error - any ideas?

download http://www.castellcomputers.com/files/ntwdblib.dll and put it in the system32 folder on the workstation.

When adding the ODBC drivers add them via C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe so that they're 32 bit.
