I was trying to install via the one button installer but even though it says My server is GM Version 9.02 the install version shows up as 8.0?? This is on a windows 10 machine which is causing it not to install because I do not have sql 2000 or 2005

so I went directly to 9.0 fresh installation. Sql is already installed (2005, 2008, 2012)
but now I get this message...

the installer has detected that the database you selected has goldmine installed

If I tell it to connect to an existing database it can't find the gm.ini or dbalias.ini This happens when I try to connect to new database.

Side note: I uninstalled GM accidentally & there was no back up or restore point. It was working fine I just needed to change the person that actually did the synchronization.

Any suggestions???? I know I'm missing something but for the life of me can't figure out what it is.

Thanks!

Re-make your one-button-sync installer. This time, when making it, be sure the gmsetup.exe you tell GoldSync to create it with is the correct setup file for your exact GoldMine 9.0 version and build number. It needs to be exact.

Ok Thanks for that.... that worked to get past the SQL issue, but I'm still getting this message and I don't know how to get around it.

the installer has detected that the database you selected has goldmine installed

Do I need to remove something somewhere else so it will attach to the existing database? It was asking me if it was a new or existing database and it doesn't ask that with the latest remote installer.

Ideas???

if you're installing a new remote laptop, you should be pointing to an SQL instance that resides on that laptop and there should be no existing database or GoldMine installation at all on the laptop.

If I rename the existing GM database to something else just in case, will that do the trick?? Or should I back it up and delete it?

*****Never mind the answer is NO to this question Very Happy

Getting this error now after inputting the login information

SQLState = 4200, NativeError = 2812, Description=Could not find stored procedure's_dboption'
CREATE DATABASE GoldMine; EXEC sp_dboption 'GodMine'
'bulkcopy'. 'true'; EXEC sp_dboption
GoldMine". "trunc', 'true'; EXEC sp_dboption 'GoldMine', 'single user', 'false'

It just seems like I'm getting a new error with every attempt at installation.
Any clues??

I hesitate to go much farther down this road, but, it may be that your SQL instance is newer than your GoldMine setup file supports and it's expecting something older. You can go to the SQL Management studio, into the properties of the empty goldmine database it created and set it (on the options screen) to compatibility mode for a version of SQL contemporaty to GoldMine 9.0 (like SQL 2008, for instance) and then try the setup again, pointing at the existing LOCAL sql server and database (be sure about that..)

Doug you are a genius!!!

Never even thought about compatibility.

Thank you so much! It looks like you don't have to go any further down the road. I changed it to SQL 2008 and it went right into it.

You really saved me !!! Thank you so much!!!
