Have a user on PE 802 that will always get warned that the record they are creating is a dupe even though this isn't the case. Doesn't happen with any other user. User has been recreated, user's INI file recreated. Still does it. |

803 is an option, but I can't understand why it's just this one user. |

maybe that person's dupe checking settings are set to check a bunch of fields and are thinking that some blank values are detected as dupes? |

Without seeing what that user is trying to do, it is difficult to provide more definitive information. |

Unless specifically overridden, Dup Check settings are stored in the UserID.ini, hence, the problem could be very specific to a single UserID. You might try simply renaming the UserID.ini just to ascertain if this is the problem. |

While he said that he had already recreated the user's ini, it might be worth doing again. Also, as a test, you might want to create a new user (temporarily) from the same workstation and see if the problem shows up. Also, you may want to personally monitor what that user is doing just to make sure that he/she is doing things correctly or you may want to log into GM as that user to see if you can replicate the problem. |

Since my original post we've found that it is affecting all users. There is nothing consistent about it and we've found it doesn't always squawk about a dupe. At first we thought it might have something to do with how many or what was getting put into the records when created, but we found that also wasn't consistent. We can't find any one thing that keeps it from happening except to enter just company and contact and then fill in the rest of the information after the record is created.
It also shows a list of contacts when it says there's a dupe, so next we're going to look at the contacts in that list to see if there's anything there that might be triggering it. |

Do you have any Local Install that may be overriding the UserID.ini settings? |
