GMPE 8.03, Word 2007, XP Pro SP2, GMLink 217.
When installing the link, we get a Microsoft Visual Basic Error, " Complie Error in hidden module: GMLINK". Macro security was turned off.
Any suggestions? Thanks. |

I find v216 is usually pretty when it comes to PE and Office 2007, but you may need to try a later link, such as v224 (I think thats the one that comes with 8.03). |

Thanks for the reply. He has two almost identical systems. I installed link 217 on the other system without any problem. Time and time again, I had to replace the link that came with PE 8.03 with 217 because of performance issues.
I am trying to get an understanding as to the meaning of this error message. Thanks. |

I used to see this issue a lot with 6.7, but no so much with PE. I had one customer who got it a few times, but they were running Office 2000 with PE, and I think 6.5.99 or one of the really old GMLink versions solved the issue for them.
I always took it to mean that there was some incompatibility between the verison of the GMLink, the version of Office and the version of GoldMine. Often trial and error with various versions of the GMLink, starting with 6.7.194 and working my way up, usually solves it. It might be worth trying a higher version of the link to see if you get any joy. |

Is it something with MSXML? See if the other machine that worked has a different version of MSXML. I think they should have version 6. |

In addition to XML6, I would also check for XML4, which I believe is required by something in GoldMine (Im not sure if it is the GMLink, I think its either that or GISMO). XML4 should be part of XP afaik, but from time to time I come across machines where it isnt installed. |
