Hi
I have a strange request.
There is a new law coming into effect here in Canada July 1st. It is called the antispam law. You must obtain consent before July1st to be able to continue to email marketing email to customer.
I would like to know get some help.
I have an email setup already with a hyperlink that goes to a form on our website. the customer currently will need to fill out the company name and their name and email and then click consent.
I would like an easier way where I can send them an email and they can click consent and somehow it will send me back their contact info from goldmine.
This way it is easy and seamleas for the customer.
Thanks
Robert |

You should be able to use web import in Goldmine to capture data entry made on your website. As far as parcing a reply email I've never heard of anyone doing that before. Do you have DJs book? It has a section on Web Import I believe. |

In my books I give examples of WebImport to validate customer information. You could easily use a variation of that for your needs. |

It is way past July 1st but just in case you are still looking for a solution
A simple approach would be for the link in your email to have something like this
http://www.mywebsite.com/consent.aspx?company=ABC Inc&contact=John doe&customerid=12345
obviously the url can be hidden and simply have a link that they can click like "Consent"
That consent.aspx (or consent.php, consent.asp, etc) simply takes the query strings company, contact, customerid and sends it via email to you and then forwards the customer to a generic thank you page.
this means that the customer does not need to fill-up a form. However, it might still be good to simply display a form and auto-populate the form for the customer to confirm that their contact info is correct and then they can click "Consent" - which still sends out the email back to you with their (update) contact info. |
