GoldMine cannot dynamically load functions from IDAPI32.DLL.
Please re-install the Borland Datábase Engine (BDE).
BDE Error: 8458
I recently have this error.
Under windows 10 home.
I suppose may be some new application or an update from the operating system.
Goldmine 5.5 is installed in a portable way with no problem until this moment.
I see a post in Ivanti : https://forums.ivanti.com/s/question/0D54O00006BRTwtSAH/question-on-goldmine-error-bde-error-8458
but I think doesn't apply to my case.
In all other aspects I need the program was going perfectly well until this moment.
I have detected in the windows registry this :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Borland
and some values on it.
I was searching for Borland in the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Borland
I think I can delete all this and try again.....
I will revise and inform you.
Best Regards
I have scanned the windows registry
There are several keys affected :
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Borland
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Borland
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Borland
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-530856950-1345220530-1509650499-1002\Software\Borland
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-530856950-1345220530-1509650499-1002\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Borland
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-530856950-1345220530-1509650499-1002_Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Borland
Several I recognize with the usual configuration for goldmine in bdadmin
I need to make the proof and comment. Deleted all these keys in the registry and reinitate the system and see it is solved.
Edited : 20.02.2020.20.43
I deleted all keys naming borland in the windows registry and now , after reinitiating , run goldmine again.
So It wasn't a windows update I suppose.
I will revise all new free software to see if anyone is affecting goldmine to delete from the holy earth or use under virtual machines.
I need my goldmine , or at least I prefer goldmine running in windows 10 under certain conditions....
Experimenting :
I opened with goldmine opened :
Mura from lamp s.a. a free technical program
cool selection from Danfoss
ducto from Atecyr
CoolPack from Department of Mechanic Engineer Denmark.
I close everything and open everything.
So I really don't know what happens....

Here's a shot in the dark:
Try running GoldMine as administrator and browsing to the BDE location when prompted.
The reason: when you 'run as administrator' it can sometimes help to STICK the registry entries for GoldMine.
If that works, you shouldn't keep running it as administrator, though, for multiple reasons. Just run it normally form then on. |

Thanks a lot Doug.
I was returning to the forum to remember about dbfclean.exe and fixing dbf memo fields.
The above problem under w10 was solved deleting those keys in the windows registry.
I am really running goldmine from inside a virtual machine under xp 32 bits.
All edits from the virtual machine.
But sometimes I search goldmine contacts from the system w10 64 bit.
I'll try to remember this help when the error happen again. Happen from time to time. Not very often. May be weeks or months. I don't remember. I am using goldmine intensively from the virtual machine. An few time from the system.
The new contacts and alarms are managed from the virtual machine, so in the system I don't make any changes.....
