Add Members To A "Public" Group

While doing a Goldbox import of records into GM is there any way to have members added to a non-user asigned group (a "Public" group) by using the "Group Member Plugin" in the import setup.

A group is already exists in GM and is assigned as a "Public" group but Goldbox will not add the new contact records to this already existing group. Instead it creates a new group with the identical name, code and owner and adds the records to this second group. What I need Goldbox to do is to add the new members to the previously existing group.

In the Goldbox import setup I have used the value of "Public" as the field expression for the "Group Owner" in the Group Plugin setup.

I'm using Goldbox 7 with GM 9.0

Not sure of the problem.

I'll look at this. Would take hours of extensive testing and no new release of GX7 due until after the new year. No guarantee can be fixed. Apparently it has always been this way.

You may need to try the regular Group Builder in GoldBox; however that will OPTIMIZE the Group whether you want it to or not, which means: It will remove Group Members who are currently in, but do not meet the Query and/or Filter.

If this is unsatisfactory, you'll probably need to add the members to the Group using GoldMine and not GoldBox.

Possible I was able to fix this, testing here seems to indicate same.

Please re-download and apply G7UPDATE.ZIP from the Downloads page of the Web. It will still say 2010-B as the version; that won't be changed til next year. But, the apparent fix is in.

It's the fact that that these are PUBLIC groups that caused the original failure.

Hey Bob,

Sorry for my delay in seeing your post. I was out of town for a few weeks and just got back and saw it.

I actually called Dave directly the day after my last post. I was extremely surprised by how quickly (overnight) he had addressed this issue. I installed the update he fixed and it worked perfectly. I was so grateful for the quick support I picked up the phone, thanked him personally and told him it worked perfectly.

I'm sorry if I seemed unappreciative in not responding to your last post - I just did not see it until today. Quite the contrary. I've always been amazed by the the level of help and assistance you guys have given on these forums and I want to thank you as well for much help over the years.

Thanks for following up. Didn't mean to sound critical, just wanted to make sure that Dave's fix did work for you!
