We installed MSSQL 2008 express version to test the environment, now that we need to move to production it looks like the licenses are very expensive just to have mssql server running.
Which version should we be using for goldmine? standard? enterprise? pro? I know express has limitations(db size, ram, 1 cpu) Our database is 15GB.
What would you recommend or used in the past? We are trying to find most affordable solution.
Thanks |

Hey guys - need some help, we are now doing the migration on other server with SQL 2012 and we can't get the BDE admin setup properly. All the servers with have - have the "MSSQL" as Database Driver Name, however this one does not, If i look under configuration > drivers > native - i don't see MSSQL, however all the other servers has it.
Any ideas how to install MSSQL?

it's not supported, but if you make sure your databases are set to sql 2000 compatibility mode, it'll work.
as for your BDE having(or not) MSSQL drivers installed, yeah, you'll need to address that.
Try downloading my Borland setup ZIP which contains both the original BDE and SQL links setup for BDE 5.2 from here: http://www.castellcomputers.com/files/borland.zip |

Thanks! you are a life saver. The files you gave me did not work - did not allow to install regular BDE(due to incompatibility) nor to update(because i didnt have it installed.)
I downloaded it from http://www.medlog.com/bdesetup.htm and installed.
Was able to connect BDE to SQL
Thanks again! |

The other issue im facing now is 80 - 2000 compatibility mode, seems that SQL 2012 does not have. Any ideas if this will even be possible?

interesting. I wonder if the MEDLOG guy has made a new 64-bit friendly setup for it or something? Downloaded and filed away! |

nope, sorry. I suspect you'll need to go for an older version of SQL (or newer version of GoldMine) |

I think that Doug's last comments are 100% correct. |
