You are probably well aware that keeping the data in GoldMine system up to date and clean is a major factor in a successful implementation. You may also have experienced how difficult this can be.
Inaport for GoldMine is a general purpose engine for importing almost any data into GoldMine, from simple lists of leads through to accounting and ERP data. Inaport can pull data from any ODBC compliant data source (Excel, Access, text, SQL, ..), transform it, and insert or update in GoldMine.
Inaport provides a range of matching techniques to assist in identifying the correct record to update, or whether it even exists. We now have a set of tutorials that provide an introduction to matching, and specific coverage of each of the techniques, with discussion of benefits and drawbacks of each.
Introduction - Introduction to the general concepts involved in matching, including parent/child relationships.
Standard Matching - Simple, powerful, flexible. Lets you build match criteria on any field or combination of fields, use expressions to manipulate the field data (e.g. extract phone area code), and build alternate match criteria (match A OR B OR C)
Fuzzy Matching - Match when data is dirty ("InaPlex" and "inalex"). Fuzzy matching lets you compare strings and score how similar they are, see all matches with a good enough score, and select which matches you want.
SQL Matching - Ideal for large data sets. There is a customer using SQL matching on a 20 million row table for updates every night. For a list of all tutorials, see here.
