Hello everyone (and specifically Bob who's been running this forum!),

Is there a way with GoldBox to automate Org Chart creation based on certain field values...for new records? The customer is running GMPE 8.01/SQL and is interested in purchasing GoldBox, if it will do the trick. I think they will buy anyway, as they are moving from an account-centric view (with Contacts tab) to a more contact-centric view (with the Relationships tab), but just in case the question is asked.

Thank you in advance!

Taarik, you seem to be asking for the building of new OrgCharts as records are created in GoldMine, in real time. That's not available; it's strictly a batch process, building/rebuilding the OrgCharts for the entire database (or a segment of it) at the same time. I usually set it up to run nightly, via Windows Task Scheduler.

It could probably be done via an SQL trigger

Okay,

I was able to speak with the customer and just wanted to get a 'yay' or 'nay' from you folks here concerning whether this process can work:

a) import contacts
b) create an "Account" record if there are 2 or more Contacts under one company
c) create an Org Chart if there are 2 or more Contacts under one company

Any ideas?

Thanks again!

Well, of course, 1 and 3 are GoldBox staples. Item 2 would be a bit of a problem, I think. What you are asking for is to mark one and only one record within an OrgChart...or maybe it's to create an additional record, rather than use one of the existing ones...you aren't really clear on that point. I think the old OrgChart Builder might do it, but not the new one.

Either way, it would have to be a paid project before I'd take the time to research it. You might give Dave a call.
