Can I name an email template without that name having to be the "subject" line of the email?

TIA (again),

Dave

Thanks. Can you answer faster next time?!! Waiting a whole 2 minutes is excessive.

Well, Ronan has been know to be slow in responding. Laughing

I agree with his answer. The name of the template is that which is in the subject line. It is still that way with GM Premium.

Im sorry... Embarassed Razz

One thing you can do to make it a little easier to change the subject line of a template when sending is to create a new email as if you were sending out a single email to a contact (it doesnt matter which record is currently open), and at the end of the subject box there is an arrow which, when clicked, will allow you to pick a template. Select the template from the list, and when it displays in the email window you can then change the subject line.

To send the email to a filter/group, click the fourth tab down on the left hand side of the top section of the email window, tick the box which reads "Merge this email to a group of contacts", and drop down the list and pick your filter/group. Click Queue to begin merging the email to the contacts, and when it is finished merging go into the Outbox in the email center to review the emails and begin sending them.

If you are using this template for a Reply then the template Subject will not overwrite the Reply Subject.

What DJ is refering to is that if you are using "default" templates as signatures when replying to emails, then the email's original subject will remain in place.

In case it fits a need, I do have a client (Dean of Admission at a university) who uses a GoldBox View to send one-off, editable E-mails, chosen by topic (with independent E-mail subject) from a GoldBox View. These use GoldBox Viewmail "templates" (very similar to GoldMine's) that have a number of features that GoldMine's templates lack. It's push-button simple to use. For more info, see this webpage on my site: http://goldboxbob.com/examples0.html The link is at the bottom of the page.

Thanks to you all. My primary motive in this was to make the dropdown template list easier to find the template I want. That dropdown is auto-sorted by alpha. I was wanting to put my more commonly used templates at the top (e.g. "1-Your recent quote request", "2-Your recent visit to our website", etc)

But I see I have the compromise of needing a good subject line in the email. It is was it is!

I understand where you're coming from, and as you say "It is what it is". Unfortunately, for your needs, I cannot think of a good workaround.
