I recently updated to Goldbox 9 from Goldbox 7 and am getting a Program Alert when one of my Q-Files runs. The error I am getting says:
Databade Engine Error: Table does not exist.
I:\goldbox\license.gx7
File: I:\goldbox\gx4win.wfm
Routine: gx4win.wfm
Line: 143
The license.gx7 file is not in the goldmine root folder. As far as I know the license.gx7 file was overwritten when I got the license.gx9 file and was asked to install it to the goldbox root folder and say yes if asked to overwrite.
If it helps to fix this, I still have the original license.gx7 file attached to the email in which it was sent to me. |

I haven't seen this, so I can't really give you a reliable answer. However, I'd copy the gx7.license into your goldbox folder to see if that helps. Sounds like a line in the code needs to be fixed, so I'd contact Ticomix directly about the problem. |

Thanks for the suggestions Bob. I have been in touch with Ticomix and gave them the info above but I haven't heard back from them yet. I'll try adding the file back to the goldbox folder.
Could you please confirm something for me? I just want to verify that I did the update correctly. What I did was to install the demo version of GX-9 right into the existing GX-7 folder and then added the license.gx9 into that folder when it was sent to me.
So in other words GX-7 was installed at I:\goldbox and I then installed the GX-9 demo version into that folder and then installed the license.gx9 into that folder as well.
I just want to make sure that that what I did would be the correct wat to install the update to GX-9.
Thanks again for your help. |

No, not what I would have done (not saying it can't work, though). I would have:
1. Used Transfer under the Service menu of GX7 to create a Zip file of all setups, Q-files, setups, etc. and reserve for later.
2. Renamed the GX7 folder.
3. Created a new folder in the root, GoldBox. Installed the GX9 demo into that, and put in the new license.
4. Unzipped the Transfer files into the GX9 folder. Opened GoldBox; it should open normally after rebuilding itself.
I'd leave GX7 in place for a while. |

Well I figured out why I was getting the error. I have to admit that I should have caught it earlier and I'm a bit embarrassed that I didn't. But here's what happened in case someone else has this happen.
The Q-file was running through a launch statement in Task Scheduler. The launch statement was created with GX7 and referred to GX7.exe which then would obviously look for the license.gx7 file which was overwritten with the GX9 update. That's whay I was getting the error message.
All I had to do was to create a new launch statement in GX9 and pasted it into Task Scheduler and now it's working fine. |

I should have thought of that, too. If all else fails, check the obvious |
