User-Override ini not working

I want to set the User-Override settings for tab names. I tried adding this to the GM.ini file...but it didn't work. I logged in as another user and their GM+View tab was still named GM+View. It should be named 'Views' according to my settings below.

I got this from an old Doug post...can I do this in GMCE 7?

ROTabItems1=1;2;3;4;5;6;7;8;9;10;11;12;13;14;
ROTabs1=Summary,Fields,Views,Notes,Contacts,Details,
Referrals,Pending,History,Links,Members,Tracks,Opptys,Projects

it should work, yes. I haven't tested it with every build of 7 though..

The only thing i see (and it may be a function of the forum) is that your list of tab names is word-wrapped. That should all be on one line in the ini file. If it's not, I'm not sure what else could be at work here.

ROTabItems1=1;2;3;4;5;6;7;8;9;10;11;12;13;14;15;16;
ROTabs1=Summary,Fields,GM+View,Memos,Contacts, Details, Referrals, Pending, History, Links, Groups, APs, Opptys, Projects, Org Tree, Service


This one sets the GoldMine default tabs that are to be displayed for all users. You are defining a corporate standard for the default GoldMine tabs, overriding any user selected tab order.

Please notice that there are more tab names that have to be addressed..

Thanks, guys! The word wrap is happening just here in the forum, but it is all on one line in the ini. Here is my exact entry in the ini file itself. It is the last entry in the gm.ini file...does that matter? When I log in as any user, the GM+View tab has not been re-named to Views as I was expecting:

[User-OverRide:GoldMine]
ROTabItems1=5;9;8;3;4;11;10;1;
ROTabs1=Summary,Fields,Views,Memos,Contacts,Details,Referrals,Pending,History,Links,Groups,APs,Opptys,Projects,Org Tree,Service

In your post, there was no space between the first 5 tab names after the comma in your list. I assume that has nothing to do with it, so I removed the spaces when I put the entry in the gm.ini.

Unfortunately, the thing that you did not notice was that all 16 tabs had to be accounted for. Whereas, your statement is only displaying eight.

Indeed. When you said "...there are more tab names that have to be addressed..." I thought you meant the actual names, not the corresponding numbers. I only have 8 tab numbers because we don't currently use the others. Can I address (list) the tab numbers in the override statement and still keep the unused tabs invisible?

To be honest, I don't know without testing it. In the past, in order to use the RoTab feature, you had to display something for each tab in the RoTabs1 statement. You may or may not have to display all of the tabs which would be in the RoTabItems statement. You'll have to play around with this and let us know your results.

Looks like you have to list something for each tab. Once I did that, users started seeing the changes. As always...THANK YOU.
