I searched the existing forums for this but could not see anything related so I apologize if this is covered somewhere else. I am also new to the GM Admin role as our old Admin recently left the company.
Today we had a contact record deleted from GM that we need to recover. We run a nightly backup but I don't want to restore the entire DB - just that specific record. is this possible? Any information or direction would be helpful.
Thanks. |

Sorry, but no. You need to restore the entire database somewhere else and recover the record there and get it back into your production GoldMine environment one way or another. If you have synchronizing remotes, the process is further complicated. |

I agree with Doug. Also, you will probably have to purge your logs so that you can restore that contact to your main system. |

How about that process where, if a deleted Contact record still exists on a remote PC, you can duplicate it (using Copy/Move); then do a M/P of Tagged records (with the duped record being first tagged)? |

Everyone - thanks for the advice about my mmissing contact record problem.
Is the process for restoring a DB defined anywhere? Any special caveats for doing this? Any links or direction would help. |

I would pay particular attention to Bob Taylor's suggestion if the contact record exists on a remote. |

still, even with the solution, the recid of all those history items, for instance, will still have the same RECID values which will still have deletion orders in the conttlog... |

One serious ramification if you have remote users sysncing and if their remote databases are not up-to-date, when you purge the logs, data that you deleted on the server may show up again.
Happy Thanksgiving. |

and field-level changes from both sides could end up winning out over field level changes from the other side when they weren't supposed to... |
