Hi,
Is there an advantage to move to Goldmine 7.0 from v6.7 ? Has the emailing system improved. I am looking for 1 feature I know act has which is I can use outlook as my default email and all outgoing and incoming gets saved in the contacts file. you do not have to use crm's email.
I have an ipaq 6955 which I use to pick up email and send email which get sync'd to outlook I would like then the email in outlook to be stored in goldmine.
I know I can open outlook in goldmine and import it into the inbox BUT too many steps. I also know I can sync my pda with goldmine BUT I have over 6,000 records which I do not want on my pda.
Anyone have any idea's or suggestions for me pls ?

The advantage is that GoldMine 6.7 is out of date and all FrontRange support will cease on April 30th, 2008 except for GoldMine Partner support. Currently FrontRange is working on build 7.0.5 which is expected to be Vista compatible. There are few noticeable changes in the E-Mail Center.
I always recommend CompanionLink for synchronizing to PDAs/Palms. |

It works better.
Also, GoldMine CE & GoldMine PE upgrades from SE are the same price. I would go with PE. |

There is an Outlook link for 6.7 or both CE or PE. It is an option with 6.7 SE, included with the others. It is also called GISMO. It links incoming and outgoing emails to contact records, and it allows Outlook to use GM as an address book. It isn't perfect, but it does what most people need.
If you decide to upgrade, definitely go with PE, because that is where most future development is probably going to happen. |

That is always my boss' question. I know I need to look into making the switch from 6.7 to the SQL based product. We have 15 licenses and currently have over 50,000 records.
How hard is the crossover?
How expensive is the new licensing?
Will we lose any compatibility with Word?
Is there a ton more stuff I would need to learn about SQL?
Thanks

Hi everyone,
thanks for the reply and help. someone mentioned before that compaionlink will work better for goldmine and PDA.
I am trying an off the wall solution that I need help on.
I want to be able to sync email to my godmine for my pda.
I do not have a exchange server. So I am trying a new interesting piece of software called emoze. www.emoze.com. This software will push email from my server to my pda in realtime.when an email hits my server it will hit my pda same time, just like a blackberry. even when I change an email or send an email with a reply emoze will update my server to reflect the new outoging email. The problem is that this program emoze will only work with outlook.
I am trying to find a solution that when emoze updates outlook that I can now use companionlink( assuming it works) to update goldmine with the email that outlook has. syncing contacts and calendar is easy. Email is the challenge
will Companionlink do this job to update emails from outlook ?
will Gizmo that was mentioned work better.
Can anyone share their idea with me pls to solve this solution ?

Doug has an application that will copy GoldMine e-mails to Outlook, and I suspect the reverse is true as well. Couldn't your PDA just sync to Outlook for e-mail, and use Dougs application to sync Outlook E-mail to GoldMine?
Chime in here anytime Doug. You know the product better then I do. |

actually, my app only exports from GoldMine to Outlook -- not the other way around... AND it's not meant as a sync application that you would run every day or something... |

I'm a little unclear on what, exactly, you're looking for.
Have you seen W-Mobile? Check it out here: http://w-systems.com/www/web/products_wMobile.asp
It allows you to access/update your GoldMine information including sending and receiving e-mails in the GoldMine system all on your PDA. |
