Hello people.
This one is I think is simple, but I can't work it out so would appreciate a bit of help if possible, please...
I have built a a group of records which have CALLS PENDING under username "Clare".
I want to change the username on these CALLS.
However, the records also have other pending items which I want to leave well alone.
So, I thought my steps would be
* activate the group filter
* use search and replace to reallocate Clare"'s calls to another userid, but ONLY the calls, not appointments and next actions etc, which stay as userid "Clare".
Can't work this out...
Could someone elucidate, please, what goes in COLUMN 1 (the existing) and what goes in COLUMN 2 (what
If soeone has a moment to help, thank you very much indeed.

Wouldn't this be a simple global replace on CAL?
Filter:
cal->userid = "CLARE" .and. cal->rectype = "C"
Replace cal->userid with the new username value.
This could also be done directly in GoldMine.
1) Click on [View/Activity List]
2) Click on "Calls" tab
3) Right Click > Options > User (Select Claire - now you see only her calls)
4) Right Click > Options > Roll-Over
5) Change user to the new user
6) Set the "Roll-over Method" to "Roll over each activity by 0 days"
Click GO. This will move all of Claire's calls to the new user. |

Eureka!
Thanks for jumping in, Paul. Gosh, am slightly embarrassed about this, though. Think I should someitmes go to bed and sleep rather than working all through the night. Then maybe I've have access to brain cells as and when needed. ('')
I'd already used your filter to form a group of the target records, but didn't go that tiny step further and use it as the filter in global replace. Ach.
As for doing this directly in GoldMine, well, blow me down with a feather and all that. Never even knew this capability existed in GM. Sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees...
THANK you Paul! Suitably chastened, plus enlighted, always good just before a British weekend of drenching rain.

there's also the territory realignment wizard for this sort of this with different options than the roll-over thing. |
