Hi
I have goldmine 9.2 installed on my windows server 2008. I have 2 workstations setup right now. I just got a new laptop and I would like to install goldmine on this laptop.
for some reason i have cannot remember on how to setup the laptop.
does the workstation install from the cd or is there another method. I do not remember how I originally did it.
Any help and guidance would be appreciated.

When you install GoldMine on your laptop do you want it to be a completely copy of your GoldMine so that when you are away from the office, GoldMine will be working on your laptop? Or do you just want your laptop to be a workstation connected to GoldMine on your server like the other workstations?
Once we understand exactly what you want, we can provide good |

As far as GoldMine is concerned, treat your laptop like a workstation and connect it to GM on the server in the same way that you connected your other workstations. |

Bob,
Thanks for the reply. My problem is, I do not remember how I setup it up originally . I am not sure if i used the CD to setup the work station or just setup a shortcut on the desktop to the server.
Any help would be greatful.

You do not need to use a CD to set up a workstation providing that you have access to the proper gmsetup.exe. It is normally stored on the server in \goldmine\setup\goldmine.
I recommend that you lookup "workstation" in the GM_Install_Guide.pdf for your version of GM. If you do not have it, your partner should be able to give you one. If needed, send me an email and I will return a copy to you attached to my email.

I don't know enough about the laptop and how it is connected to the server. In any case, I recommend reviewing all this in the GM_Install_Guide.pdf . |

Hi,
I have my laptop with a mapped drive to our 2008 server.
I have gone onto the new laptop and went to server drive("S") and located the GMWsetup and clicked on it and it started.but it stops after a few screens because It is looking for a ini file on the local "c" drive and it will not allow me to access the server drive to point it there. It says the "S" drive (which is the mapped drive letter) is not accessable. Yet I have started the software running from the "s" drive.
This is windows 7 pro and my old laptop was xp
This should not make a difference or does it ?

in windows 7, setups run as the administrative user -- which has no knowledge of the mapped drive (that's mapped in your own user's environment.) When asked to browse to the server's Goldmine folder, use the UNC path equivalent.
It's probably something like \\server\apps\goldmine\ (as opposed to S:\goldmine\, which, in windows explorer, might look like "Apps (\\server) (S" |
