Brand new PC, Win XP Pro, 2002 sp2.
Server is relatively new, Win2003. SQL 2000 SP4
GoldMine 7.00.70302, GoldBox 7 Mm
Goldbox installed (and runs without erro) on server.
Both Server and PC have DEP turned off for all Goldbox executables.
If I try to run gx7 from my desktop, I get an error "Error Loading IDAPI32.dll". BDE is installed on the server and configured properly.
I have admin rights on both server and desktop pc. Shortcut uses a mapped drive to the server. Same error if I try to run it from run command or changing the shortcut to UNC.
I was able to run Goldbox using a shortcut to the server from my old pc (a 4 year old clunker with Win 2k pro). |

To run, your desktop has to be connected to both the BDE and to GoldMine. Did you try opening GoldMine before trying to open GoldBox? Shouldn't matter, but would be helpful to know. |

I did open GoldMine before trying GoldBox. GoldMine 7 doesn't use BDE though. BDE was installed and configured on the server. Running GoldBox directly on the server works fine, I just have a lot of setups that I like to run from desktop shortcuts. |

Given that the BDE must be working, the only things I know of that could stop GoldBox from running from your desktop are incorrectly mapped drives on your PC for the BDE or for GoldBox or GoldMine. Must be missing something, but I don't know what. May be time for you to check with Dave. |

SOLVED!! Had to add a registry entry on the new pc to point borland to the server.
After that, I got the error about gm7s32.dll, added the path to my environment variables, and I'm GoldBoxing again!!
Thanks for your help, Bob!! |
