So, Bob and other saints...
I now know how to do
groups
global replace
q files
Where I'm heading is this:- I read somewhere, maybe in Dave's notes, that by using Q-files, you can do pretty much everything that automated processes allow you to do in GM.
Now, I get it that you can use endless conditions and filters, but, big question: how do you, say, schedule a next action, or a call, as you can in APs? How can you use GoldBox to make it do stuff, like trigger a mailmerge or add a detail, or complete a history and trigger a call on a detail, or, say, select an email template as you can do in APs?
And then there's the pre-emptive and sequential, etc. Well, I guess the pre-emptive really just means filters. And sequential really only means using a Q-file.
Many many questions... however, I wish heaven help me that I had got GoldBox since day 1 of using GoldMine. I would be a lot further on with my life now if I had done. But it was such a scary programme then, couldn't understand how to do a thing. Now it's much easier to use. The help files are good and some of it I've worked out without even the help of the forum, which I never could have done before.
I think that if GoldBox can include scheduling, then really I think people ought to be told, with some insistence - - they MUST buy Goldbox to use with GoldMine because it really is integral to using GM in a way that keeps you sane, as opposed to the madness I used to be gripped with - and the rage, when trying to do stuff only in GoldMine, with its quirkiness, inconsistencies and clunky ways. |

Start by reading this document, from my site: http://goldboxbob.com/files/QDA1.pdf
It's very general, but that's the way to start. Then, if you want to go further, you can dream up a simple example from your own business needs, and I will give you some guidance on how to do it.
BTW, the answer to your first question is "Imports"! And the "source file" for each Import is the result of running a query. Stunningly simple, when you get down to it. |
