Hi Doug, I was wondering in GM 6.7 when an email hangs in pending, if there is a log file that denotes the reason ~ thanks, aj. |

it's still in the inbox? right-click on it and select fast-file. |

I only send out emails using templates I design under, "Write" icon.
From there, the notification of success failure falls under the history of pending tab.
Sometimes, it will fall under the pending tab, realizing it never left goldmine and reached my email server. Was wondering how you could dig into the reason for the delivery failure? |

if it's stuck in the outbox (email center) or pending tab (contact record) as outmail, then it did not, indeed, ever get to the mail server. My guess would be a bad e-mail address on the contact record.
You could always visit the outbox and right-click and select SEND on the individual item(s). |

What is fast file. I found it by clicking on the email under history, then right clicking and choosing actions, but it's greyed out, I suspect will only work when I find one under pending. |

it sends the mail from the inbox/pending to history. It's not applicable for outgoing mail. |

That's odd, I tried sending an email on a beta machine and it failed to send the email using a template, it was stuck in pending and never left goldmine. I then selected fast file and it went out and moved into history - why is that sir. |

I really couldn't say.
Would have a lot to do with your mail server, your contact's e-mail address, the condition of the contact, the template, the spam rules of your mail server, the spam rules of your internet provider, your antivirus, etc. etc. |

That's funny, now that I invoked the fast file once on a file that was pending, now all subsequent emails go out fine, using templates - any thoughts. Thanks by the way, I had a work around for most gm 6.7 bugs, this was the remaining one. |

that's a problem with 6.7: If you queue up a mass e-mail and one item has a bad email address (or no email address) then the whole batch stops.
Simplest workaround is just to visit the outbox, right-click and send all and wait. If it stops, delete the offensive item (and maybe consider marking/correcting the associated contact) and then send all again. Repeat until all are sent. |

Mystery solved.
I copied over my GM 6.7 to 2008r2 under a different ip address.
When I went to edit the offending email template, I noticed the attachments were missing, which was odd. I simply - re-attached the missing file attachments and now the same email template goes out. I suspect the email templates are hard coded, via the source ip address where the attachment files reside. When GM couldn't find the original IP address for the attachments it caused an email failure - very interesting ..... |
