I was working with the new lookup functionality within GoldMine PE 8.5 where you can control which F2 lookups are listed based on a value in another field. I was looking around in GoldBox to see whether or not there was any additional enhancements to import lookup lists along with their mastervalues. If not, what would be the best place to try this within GoldBox? Any help would be appreciated. |

AFAIK, a Lookup List is a Lookup List is a Lookup List. They are imported one at a time by GoldBox.
I haven't actually worked with GoldMine's version of Conditional Lookup Lists, but I've worked with GoldBox's various versions of them for years. Essentiaily, with the simplest version, you build an expression that chooses a Lookup List from among multiple possibilities, based on field data in another field. In GoldBox's most sophisticated version, On-The-Fly Lookups, the expression can be replaced by one or more SQL queries.
Anyway, it's always a matter of importing individual Lookup Lists. While it might be possible for GoldBox to create some sort of relational import scheme, I doubt if it would pay off in reality, because every Conditional Lookup Scheme is going to be special in its own way.
You might check with Dave Petonic to see whether the new Universal Updater product might make sense for what you want to do. |
