We're running GM 6.70.50123 Corporate Edition. We use MSSQL for the backend and pull email from a web mail provider.
A remote user continues to get this error:
Translate Error. Value out of bounds.
Context: Field::String
9
BDE Error Cat:Code: [39:35]
BDE: 500 [4/11/1999] GoldMine: 6.70.50123
User: DLEONARD

One of the other forums says:
Value Out of Bounds is almost always a date information that is incorrect in the WebImport Instruction Set.
No one in the office is getting this error. Any ideas? Thanks.

When does the user get this error?
Is only during sync?
Is it only when they're on the fields tab?
This error often indicates a system trying to store a US date value in a UK date field or maybe a character value in a numeric field, etc.
How long has this remote been out in the field?
Is the remote user one who might consider messing with field settings? |

This remote user gets the error when NOT syncing. He's also seeing another problem where he can't send attachments. Any emails with an attachment sit in the Outbox and don't ever get sent.
Could it be that the local GM install/setup is corrupted? Or maybe he has changed something inadvertantly. Is there a way for me to send him a CD of files he can put in the GM folder to replace any files that may be corrupted without losing his personal settings or anything on the laptop that's no longer on he server? If so, would you tell me what files would need to be replaced?
Thanks. |

You could start by having him back up then run maintenance, preferably with the Individual files option, then Set all. Pack, rebuild, and sort. It would also be a good idea to purge his logs older than the last sucessful sync.
You could send him a CD, or just the setup file. The best place to put the setup file is in \Goldmine\setup\Goldmine.
If the rebuild doesn't help, perhaps there is some issue with the remote's ISP, or try deleting the oldest message in the Outbox. Maybe it is corrupted, or really large.
I'm just guessing, but maybe something in his GM+View script is corrupted. |

I just encountered this error at a customer site. We were doing a final sync prior to an upgrade to PE and the error came up several times during the sync. However, the sync continued to the end.
We then ran maintenenance on the database and the error appeared dozens and dozens of time. I just hit OK A LOT of times. I made note of the rows, did a backup of C2, opened it in BR7 and found that those row items had empty Accountno's.
Using BR7, I removed the rows Empty(AccountNo) did a pack, and all was good after that with both GM Maint and sync. |

Good information - thanks for sharing. I also recommend running a series of SQL Queries to look for orphaned C2 records, Duplicate C2 records, and missing C2 records. Also make sure that there are not any C1 records which do not contain accountno (a rare situation but can cause serious problems when it exists). |
